And yet again it is my honour to annouce the birthday of a great friend XinChu. We had a great 'party' yesterday to celebrate no doubt. And today's post will be dedicated to him although its one day late. Hur Hur. Ok basically we'll be looking at the historical aspects to how the name XinChu came about from the ancient chinese times. In simplified chinese it is written as 信猪. First we will look at 信, it can mean many things by itself. Mainly it is more associated to a concept of trust or a more literal translation letter. Secondly, is the word 猪, it is a word that has a very deep meaning to it. On the surface it is the word that means pig. But, looking pass that to our modern society it has many political and religious issues around it. One of the worse insults one can use is 猪 as it represents laziness and dirtyness as the wallow in mud, eat and sleep all day to grow fat. And also racially some religions view pigs as 'dirty' and being to lowest among low. Yet contrary to such concepts we have the chinese who honour the pig by making it one of the Zodiac animals and value it. This is due to the pig's intelligence to wallow in mud - to avoid bugs and clean one self. Even humans take after them with the support of mud baths. Lastly we must look at these 2 words in their entirety. 信猪 could possibly mean to trust in the pig it self or the deep meanings behind it. Or even a hint by a mystical pig of superior intellect to seek him out? Or it could be an anagram that actually is 猪信, now that brings us to a whole new leve..... Anyway my frens name is not 信猪. |
